Hope Assistance Local Tradies was recognised for OHS Achievement at Thursday night’s gala ceremony at the Crown Palladium in Melbourne, which was attended by 450 people.
Castlemaine’s Jeremy Forbes was driven to create HALT following the tragic suicide of a fellow tradesperson and friend.
The community initiative’s aim was to support the mental health of the region’s tradies.
From “Save your Bacon” breakfasts where tradies were given a chance to talk about issues such as anxiety or depression, HALT had developed into a registered health promotions charity that had formed alliances with many mental health and suicide prevention agencies.
It was estimated HALT has directly touched 7000 people through special events.
Thousands more had been touched through word-of-mouth and media coverage.
