THE new era of BBD division one midweek pennant featured 13 male bowlers taking to the greens on Monday.
For the first time men are now permitted to play in division one of midweek pennant following an off-season rule change.
Having previously been women only, BBD division one midweek teams can now select one male bowler per rink to play either lead or second.
Seven of the teams featured male bowlers, with the only one not to being three-time defending premier Bendigo East.
• The first men to play BBD midweek division one:
Bendigo – Russell Matthews.
Castlemaine – Michael O’Shea, David Frost.
Eaglehawk – Stephen Piercy.
Golden Square – Arthur Kendall, William Pell, Robert Moore.
Kangaroo Flat – Geoff Howes, Ian Martin.
South Bendigo – Steven Drummond.
Woodbury – Iain Aitken, Len Grainger, Len Handley.
