The season started on Monday, with last season’s grand finalists Bendigo East and Golden Square not getting everything their own way.

East and Square both recorded victories, but they were pushed all the way by Kangaroo Flat and South Bendigo respectively.

East lost two of three rinks against Flat, but Judith Davey’s 14-shot win over Gwen Waegeli was enough to secure the Magpies victory.

Square edged out South Bendigo by 10 shots, thanks largely to Ruth Pearce’s 16-shot win.

Eaglehawk kicked off its campaign in fine style with a 20-shot win over Woodbury.

In the final game of the round, Castlemaine defeated Bendigo by eight shots.
