South Bendigo clubmates Teleah Hayes and John Justice starred in the 3000m and 800m respectively.
Hayes achieved a time of 9 minutes 49.14 seconds in her 3000m victory.
The Elmore athlete broke the Centre’s open record for the gruelling run.
Justice added another record as he clocked 3:12.02 in his 800m heat.
It was the third week in a row the 80-years-young athlete has broken a record for the 80-plus class.
Another of the Centre’s octogenarians, Eaglehawk’s Geoff Major starred in the 1500m walk.
Known to many as ‘Chook’, Major achieved a time of 12:14.28 to set a record for the 80-plus division.
Bendigo Harriers’ Brett Gilligan hurled the discus to a mark of 31.69 metres to now be the 40-plus record holder.
The track and field action drew more than 110 competitors.
The first of the women’s 100m duels was an Eaglehawk trifecta as Carlie Whitford won narrowly from Niah Langtree and Laura Kadri.
Just seven-hundredths of a second separated South Bendigo’s Jake Hilson and Bendigo Harriers’ Ben Powell at the end of their 100m dash.
In the 200m, Langtree raced to victory ahead of Whitford and Kadri.
Hilson won the first of the men’s 200m heats from Harriers’ clubmates Andrew Bruce and Ben Powell.
First-time competitor, Danai Mahachi showed plenty of speed as he won heat two in 25.34 seconds.
University’s Wil McCaig ran strongly to win the 800m in 2:09 minutes.
Heat winners in the 800m included South Bendigo’s Darcy Nelson, Bendigo Harriers’ Lachlan Carr, and South Bendigo’s Angus Skirka.
University’s Leah Cripps was best in the 1500m walk, as South Bendigo’s Peter Curtis and Eaglehawk’s Barb Bryant led the way in the 3000m.
In the field events, South Bendigo’s Emma Berg achieved a best of 38.20m at discus and 14.06m at shot put.
University’s Anthony Messerle put the discus past the 35 metre mark.
The hammer throw was a one-two result for daughter-father, Olivia and Craig Graham from Eaglehawk.
Olivia almost hit the 50 metre mark as Craig reached 31.88m.
The men’s shot put was won by Bendigo Harriers’ Mackenzie Cooper, 11.24m.
A great afternoon for Kyle Murphy from Bendigo Harriers included leaps of 1.94m at high jump and 13.31m at triple jump.
The women’s triple jump was closely-fought as Eaglehawk’s Denise Snyder, 10.44m, and Carlie Whitford, 10.28m, led the way.
It’s another big weekend of athletics action at the Flora Hill track this weekend, with bumper programs scheduled for Little Athletics and senior athletics.
