The van caught fire and was attended to by three CFA units at McCrae Street, Bendigo, at 4.21am, but the cause of the blaze is still unknown.
The vehicle was carrying copies of Saturday’s edition of the Bendigo Advertiser, which were to be sold at various outlets across the city.
Daniel Kirby said crews saved a few bundles of papers but the rest were “toast”.
“The amount of burnt papers there were it would have been burning for a long time,” he said.
The Bendigo Advertiser is thankful the driver of the van was not hurt in the fire.
