In announcing his resignation, Mr Braslis said he had enjoyed his two-year tenure at the helm of the Gannawarra Shire Council.
He joined the organisation as a first-time chief executive officer in 2015.
“As a council we have introduced efficiencies and initiatives that will improve the organisation and wider municipality,” Mr Braslis said.
“Some particular highlights include introducing a more contemporary administrative process internally to enhance productivity within the organisation.”
Under his leadership, the council transitioned to an underlying operating surplus of $5.83 million.
“I am also particularly proud of the introduction of a $500,000 program to support sport and recreation across the municipality,” Mr Braslis said.
“More recently, the sourcing of $800,000 in funding for the Koondrook Nature Based Tourism Hub and raising the profile of Gannawarra to the state government through advocacy and representation on the Mallee Regional Partnerships Board is a particular achievement.”
While Gannawarra Mayor Brian Gibson said he was disappointed to receive the news, he was excited for Mr Braslis.
“He has embraced the opportunity to work in a rural setting and worked tirelessly with enormous commitment across all areas of council,” Mr Gibson said.
“On behalf of council I would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge the contribution Eric has given to the Gannawarra Shire and wish him the very best in the future in his new role.”
Mr Braslis has resigned effective December 8.
Cr Gibson said Gannawarra would start the recruitment process for a new chief executive officer.
The announcement follows a turbulent period at the Mount Alexander Shire Council, following the resignation of former mayor Sharon Telford and former Castlemaine Ward councillor Tony Bell.
