Action heats up at Strathdale Park for Bendigo Classic

Strathdale Park will be transformed this weekend as competitors from across the country descend on the city for the 11th annual Bendigo Classic.

The event, hosted by the Bendigo On Road Radio Control Car Club, will see more than 150 entrants race battery-powered radio controlled cars around the newly revamped track.

Thousands of dollars and more than 200 hours of work from members have gone into the track since July and it is now creating interest overseas.

President Lyndon Turvey said the club of just 15 members was proud to have attracted so many entrants this year, up from 90 last year.

“It’s just gone from strength to strength,” he said.

“People are talking about it all over Australia how many entries we have. It’s been great for the club.”

Entrants will use the track for controlled practice on Friday, before competition begins on Saturday with six-minute heats and concludes on Sunday. Spectators are welcome, more details at bendigorccarclub.com/bendigo-classic.
