The Rams handed the reigning premier Cobras a 125-run thumping in the season-opener at Cal Gully.

After being sent into bat by the Cobras, Sedgwick smashed 7-247 off its 40 overs.

Opening batsman Matt Dwyer was the star for the Rams.

The left-hander hit 12 fours and four sixes in a quickfire innings of 89.

New skipper Greg Thomas made 28 in his first game for the Rams and his first match against his former club.

Jordan Ilsley and Dustin Elliott chipped in with 28 each.

Golden Gully wasn’t helped by bowling 23 wides and 10 no-balls.

In reply, the Cobras made a brisk start, but Kansas Varker’s departure for 22 sparked a top-order collapse.

The Cobras lost 6-21 to go from 0-25 to 6-46. Jordan Ilsley claimed three of the six wickets for the Rams.

Jordan Knight and Brad Smith dug in in a bid to rescue the innings.

They added 41 for the seventh wicket before Smith fell for 11.

That wicket was the beginning of the end for the Cobras and they were eventually dismissed for 122 in just the 28th over.

Knight top scored for Golden Gully with 49.

All six of the Sedgwick bowlers took at least one wicket, with Ilsley claiming 3-23 off his eight overs.

Maiden Gully produced a great batting performance to defeat Mandurang.

Matt Pask’s70 off 61 balls, Phil Berry’s 42 and Luke Rafferty’s 37 off 34 balls lifted Mandurang to a competitive 7-212 off 40 overs.

Rob Brown took 3-57 to be Maiden Gully’s leading wicket-taker.

In reply, Maiden Gully looked in trouble when they fell to 3-54, but Trevor Pickthall (47) and Dallas Gill (23) put on 51 for the fourth wicket to steady the ship.

Darcy Poulter (36) and Brett Haw (29) batted well in the latter overs to lift Maiden Gully to victory.

Maiden Gully passed Mandurang for the loss of seven wickets and finished its innings 9-223.

Rob Johnson (4-37) and Clint Botham (2-19 off eight overs) bowled well for Mandurang.

Spring Gully opened the season in fine style, with a six-wicket win over Marong.

Duane Anderson made a well-compiled 51 in Marong’s total of 9-170 off 40 overs.

Extras were second-top scorer for Marong on 28.

Spring Gully overcame the early loss of opener Jayden Mannix (1) to cruise to 4-182 off 40 overs.

Joel Bish top-scored with 57, while Lachlan Brook added 43 and Jesse Marciano made an unbeaten 30.
