Saturday’s Vegecareian Festival featured animal welfare groups, vegan and vegetarian food stalls, talks and demonstrations, goods for sale, yoga, animal blessings, and workshops.
Organiser Alyce Crosbie said the theme of the festival was to “love food, love animals, love life”.
She said the festival aimed to inform and encourage people to lead a healthy lifestyle through veganism or vegetarianism, or by incorporating more of those practices into their lives.
By Saturday lunchtime, hundreds of people – many with dogs at their heels – were enjoying the festival.
Joan Pettigrew and Deb Jones were among the hundreds of people at the festival on Saturday morning, having travelled from Kyabram to attend.
Ms Pettigrew said she was interested in Buddhism and wanted to see the Great Stupa, and was also keen to learn more about alternative ways of living.
She said they were both involved with animals too, which made the event a drawcard.
Gordon, Tania and Beau Chaffey-Pratt visited the Stupa from Maldon.
“It’s about bringing love and kindness and compassion to the world through your lifestyle,” Ms Chaffey-Pratt said.
She said it was also nice to be around like-minded people, as well as learn more about what products and services were available.
The Vegecareian Festival runs until 4pm Saturday.
