Contested over three days at courses in Aspendale, Cranbourne and Cape Schanck, GCV finished with three wins and a tie from its four matches.
The nine-player team’s dominance was reflected in its 20.5-7.5 tournament scoreline.
GCV’s victory was confirmed when it tied its fifth and final round match against eventual runners-up Dalhousie at The National Golf Long Island at Cape Schanck on Wednesday.
Stars of the final day were Neangar Park’s Tahlia Holmberg, who finished eight-up with seven holes to play, and Axedale Golf Club’s Bernice Campbell (seven-up with six to play).
The winning team comprised Holmberg, Campbell, Kristi and Jenni Bilkey, Ruth Iser, Carmel Bourne, Janelle Brown, Elizabeth Raftery and Leanne Robertson.
GCV was in a commanding position going into the final following earlier wins against third-placed East Gippsland (5.5-1.5), South Western (6-1) and Northern (5.5-1).
The triumph wins the GCV team automatic promotion into division one at next year’s Country Week event.
Meanwhile, GCV’s men’s team finished its plate division campaign in third place behind champions Goulburn Murray and runners-up Murray Darling.
The team won one of its four matches and tied another.
Its third placing was confirmed with a 1.5-5.5 loss to Goulburn Murray on the final day.
Castlemaine’s James O’Brien was the sole winner, defeating Hill Top Golf and Country Club’s Matt Miller, while Neangar Park’s Jarrett Miles halved his match against Mooroopna’s Ben MacGibbon.
In earlier week results, GCV lost to North Eastern 3-4, defeated Dalhousie 4-3 and tied with Murray Darling.
