IT may have taken nine months longer than expected, but Elmore can now boast its own modern plexipave tennis courts in time for the summer tennis season.

The project was close to completion at the end of 2016, but heavy rainfall in the small town caused flooding at the work site and delayed the project’s completion until August.

Last weekend, representatives from a number of Elmore community groups attended the official opening of the redevelopment.

Elmore Tennis Club’s Leanne Trewick said it was a testament to the hard work of volunteers throughout the community.

“Past club secretary Diane Chandler plays a pivotal role, committing many hours behind the scenes working to secure valuable funding and sponsorship towards the court redevelopment project,” she said.

“With numbers looking good for Tuesday Tennis, which kicks off on October 10, the ladies are looking forward to rotating play through the new courts.”
