A MAN is in hospital with facial injuries after he was assaulted at a taxi rank in central Bendigo overnight.
Police were called to the taxi rank between McCrae Street and Park Road at 4.35am.
Sergeant Rod Davis said an 18-year-old man was punched to the face and lost consciousness when he hit the ground.
He was taken to Bendigo Health by ambulance where he is receiving treatment.
A spokesperson for Ambulance Victoria said the man was in a serious but stable condition.
Police are seeking to speak to a man in his 30s in relation to the assault, and are calling for more witnesses to come forward.
Sergeant Davis said it was a concerning incident.
“It’s a scenario we see all too often,” he said.
“Police inquiries are continuing in relation to the offender. Anyone who witnessed the incident is encouraged to contact police.”
