After a drawn out selection process, the Bendigo Addy sports team has finalised its BFNL Team of the Year.

BACK POCKET - CODIE PRICE (Sandhurst). Another consistent season by the Dragons' star. No better distributor of the ball by foot when running off half-back.

FULL-BACK - TIM HILL (Eaglehawk). The main man in Eaglehawk's back six. Rarely beaten in a one-on-one.

BACK POCKET - EAMON McKENNA (Gisborne). This selection might surprise a few people, but the reliable defender was the most consistent Bulldog in 2017. He was in Gisborne's best players 10 times in 18 matches.

HALF-BACK FLANK - KALLEN GEARY (Strathfieldsaye). Third-straight Team of the Year honour for the classy defender/midfielder. 

CENTRE HALF-BACK - JON COE (Golden Square). Coe seems to be getting better with age. Reading of the play is second-to-none and consistently puts his body on the line. 

HALF-BACK FLANK - JOSH GOVAN (Kyneton). The Tiger star probably spent more time through the midfield in the second half of the season, but he deserves his spot off half-back after enjoying a career-best season.

WING - KAL HUNTLY (Castlemaine). Standout season in a poor team. One of the first picked in this team.

CENTRE - JACK GEARY (Golden Square). Missed five games through injury, but the 13 games he played made it impossible to leave him out.

WING - ADAM BAIRD (Golden Square). Racked up a mountain of possessions in another superb season. A rib injury hurt him in the finals.

HALF-FORWARD FLANK - BEN McPHEE (Eaglehawk). Arguably Eaglehawk's most important player. 38 goals and plenty of the pill when in the midfield. 

CENTRE HALF-FORWARD - TRAVIS BAIRD (Golden Square). Could well have challenged for the Michelsen Medal had he not suffered a season-ending hamstring injury. Most consistent season he has had with the Dogs.

HALF-FORWARD FLANK - ANDREW COLLINS (Sandhurst). The smooth moving ball magnet showed his class with a fine first season in the BFNL. Big game performance against Ballarat in inter-league footy was the highlight.

FORWARD POCKET - MATT GRETGRIX (Eaglehawk). 69 goals for the year, including six hauls of seven or more. 

FULL-FORWARD - LACHLAN SHARP (Strathfieldsaye). Some people will argue that he shouldn't be named at full-forward. Those who watch the Storm regularly will know that Sharp played as their key deep forward and was clearly the best forward in the competition. Ron Best Medal, Michelsen Medal - say no more.

FORWARD POCKET - BEN WEIGHTMAN (Kyneton). 90 goals in the home and away season and arguably the most difficult match-up in the competition.

RUCK - KIERAN STRACHAN (South Bendigo). Injuries hampered his season, but he did finish equal-third in the Michelsen Medal.

RUCK-ROVER - RHYS MAGIN (Kyneton). No midfielder had a better first nine rounds of the season. Stiff not to poll more votes in the Michelsen Medal.

ROVER - JONATHAN LANYON (Kangaroo Flat). Carried a massive load through the midfield with the young Roos. Won a huge amount of the ball.

INTERCHANGE - BRODIE COLLINS (Eaglehawk). Probably flies under the radar a touch, but he's been super for the Hawks this year, particularly with clearances. 

INTERCHANGE - TOM TOMA (GS). Averaged a goal per game from the midfield and gave the Dogs plenty of drive.

INTERCHANGE - BLAIR HOLMES (Sandhurst). The Dragons had a frustrating season, but Holmes was tireless through the middle. He was in the Dragons best players 13 times in the 18 games he played.

INTERCHANGE - TRENT DONNAN (Strathfieldsaye). Led the way for the Storm in clearances. Named the Storm's best player six times.
