The MPs will host two community information sessions for the $15.8 million project next month and say the sessions are the community’s chance to inform the look, feel and function of the upgrades.
Residents, passengers, businesses and community groups will have the opportunity to speak directly to designers and ask questions about the project, as well as provide suggestions and feedback.
The upgrades at the Bendigo station will include a new pedestrian overpass with lifts and stairs, as well as a much needed makeover of the waiting area, toilets and passenger service areas.
Traffic management and parking will also be improved, to make it easier for people to arrive on foot, and by bus, bicycle or taxi.
At the Eaglehawk station the platform will be extended and will include new shelters, and there will be 60 new car parking spaces and a new footpath to make the station more accessible for passengers.
Ms Allan said feedback from local residents and businesses would be vital to help inform the best design options that would work best for the local community.
“We want to make sure that we get the design right and make it easier for people to catch a train from Bendigo and Eaglehawk stations,” she said.
Ms Edwards said the MPs wanted to hear from as many Bendigo and Eaglehawk residents as possible, to ensure they got the design right for the community.
“Local residents who use our system every day want better and easier access to the station, more car parking and more comfortable waiting areas and that’s exactly what we’re doing,” she said.
The first session will be held at the Bendigo railway station waiting area on platform 1 on October 11 between 4pm an 8pm, while the second will be held at the Eaglehawk station waiting area on October 12 between 5pm and 7.30pm.
