The championships, to be staged at Coomera, will run from September 24-30.

BAS head men’s volleyball coach Todd Broadbent said all the athletes and coaches had been training weekly in Melbourne or through camp-based training sessions for the last three months.

“They have all been working and training hard in preparation for the championships,” he said.

“It is a fantastic achievement to represent Victoria and I am sure they will do very well.

“The Bendigo Academy of Sport volleyball program is very proud of all the athletes and coaches, and having so many athletes throughout the age groups and teams is once again an outstanding result for the BAS Program.

“It is also a fantastic opportunity for the coaches to continue to develop and learn and bring it back further knowledge and skills to the academy.

“They will be competing against many states and territories – Queensland, Western Australia, NSW, SA, ACT and even New Zealand and Samoa are competing.”

The selections continue the excellent results for the BAS after athletes Lewis Roberts, Bailey Keck, Lauren Cox and coaches Todd Broadbent, Mark Jensen, Gel Klein-Boonschate and Scott Ross won silver medals at the Under 16 Australian Volleyball Championships for Victoria in both the boys’ and girls’ events.
