Navarre had beaten the Redbacks in the past three grand finals as part of the Grasshoppers’ stretch of four flags in a row.
But just as Carisbrook did to Talbot in 1999, the Redbacks denied the Grasshoppers a fifth premiership in a row with their 11.7 (73) to 7.11 (53) victory at Princes Park.
The Redbacks got off to a flying start, kicking the first four goals of the game and were never headed.
Both of the best-on-ground medals were awarded to Carisbrook players – Jason Hill and Ayden George (two goals).
Carisbrook’s Liam Cunningham was the most damaging forward on the ground, booting five goals; one in the first quarter, one in the second; two in the third and one in the last.
The premiership was co-coached by Matthew Bilton and 2017 Berry Powell medallist Jackson Bowen, who was sidelined with a shoulder injury.
Meanwhile, the A Grade netball grand final was a tight contest as Trentham defeated Rovers 41-38.
