Punters took to social media to report the pest running amok on the course’s infield just minutes ahead of the Jarrod Larkin Concreting three-year-old maiden plate.
The intruder held up the race for several minutes until it could be cleared from the track.
Camera crews tracked the animal until it disappeared out of shot near the ambulance bay at the rear of the track.
The race eventually got underway with Tavistock Abbey coming in ahead of Johnny Vinko and Valiant Spirit.
Short-priced favourite Heavenly Thought, finished fourth.
