It was the fourth consecutive year the school had made it to the state finals, where its triumphant teams defeated the winners from six other regions.
It was also the first time a secondary school has taken out more than two of the categories.
Tournament of Minds is a national competition open to students from years 4 to 10, and involves teams preparing and then presenting solutions to problems, in front of a live audience and judges.
“It’s wonderful to watch students develop the courage to put themselves on the spot and work their way out of a problem,” acting head of Girton Grammar School Robyn MacCulloch said.
The three teams will go onto the national competition, where they will vie to take out top honours in the social sciences, engineering/mathematics and language/literature categories. The national final will be held in Adelaide on October 28.
