Rafaeles earned a split decision over Filipino fighter Rolly Dorong in their four round contest on Saturday night in Guidulman.
More than 2500 people attended the event, which was presented by leading Filipino boxing promoter and manager Edgar Ricafort.
Rafaeles, who trains under brothers Pat and Gary Connolly at the Vinton Street Gym in California Gully, advanced his record to 4-0.
Uniquely, for a fighter who lives in Bendigo, the 25-year-old has never had a professional bout in Australia.
All four of his fights have been held in the Philippines, which is the country of his birth.
Rafaeles went into the contest feeling a little under the weather, suffering the effects of a flu bug.
He admitted to having little bounce in his legs after a tough first round, but was proud to get the win against a fierce opponent in easily the hardest fight of his career.
The fight was Rafaeles’ fourth in a touch under 12 months.
He scored a unanimous points decision win over Junrey Amora in his professional debut in September last year.
His 4-0 record includes a technical knock-out against Reyjhun Morano.
