The plan will cover Greater Bendigo National Park, Hepburn Regional Park, Paddys Ranges State Forest, Kara Kara National Park, Kooyoora State Park, and Wehla Nature Conservation Reserve.
It aims to empower the traditional owners of the land, the Dja Dja Wurrung people, to manage the land in collaboration with the government, in a way that is sustainable and maintains connection to the land.
The plan will work in harmony with the goals set by the Dja Dja Wurrung Aboriginal Clans Corporation and the state of Victoria, as outlined in the recognition and settlement agreement.
Next weekend, a series of open house workshops will begin, to collect feedback from the public.
These will be held from 10am to 3pm at La Trobe University Bendigo’s Ironbark Centre on Saturday, September 16; Inglewood Town Hall on Sunday, September 17; Maryborough Community Hub on Saturday, October 7; and the Paddock Neighbourhood Centre in Daylesford on Saturday, October 21.
