BRIDGEWATER… daylight… then the rest.
That sums up the past eight years on the football field in the Loddon Valley league as the Mean Machine has dominated the competition.
Of the 24 premiership flags that have been won across the senior, reserves and under-age competitions since 2010, almost half now reside on the walls at Bridgewater.
The Mean Machine have captured 11 flags in the past eight seasons – seven senior premierships and four in the reserves.
Every season throughout the eight-year period of review the Mean Machine have won at least one football premiership.
Although, this was the first of those seasons where Bridgewater didn’t win the senior premiership after losing the grand final to Calivil United. Yet, the club added a third reserves flag in a row at the expense of the Demons.
The Mean Machine’s 11 football flags over the past eight years stands out like a beacon given the next best has been the three both Calivil United and Marong have won.
Only Inglewood and Bears Lagoon-Serpentine haven’t won a football flag over the past eight seasons, although, both have had grand final teams.
Across the three grades of competition, only Bridgewater (244) and Calivil United (221) have won more than 200 combined home and away games.
One category where the Mean Machine isn’t ranked No.1 is for total teams in finals, with Bridgewater’s tally of 17 slightly bettered by Calivil United’s 18 teams that have finished in the top five since 2010.
