Bendigo City went down in its final home game last Saturday, beaten 4-1 by Brunswick City.
City trailed 1-0 at half time, but a run of three goals in the space of 13 minutes late in the contest, including the second of two for the game from Matthew Conversano, sealed the home side’s fate.
A late goal to skipper Kevin Walker in the 86th minute reduced the margin to three goals at the game’s end.
The 4-1 scoreline was the same as the teams’ earlier season clash in May.
If City is to salvage a win from their season, they will need to defeat the competition’s fifth-placed team away from home.
In the under-20 clash, Brunswick City defeated Bendigo City 8-0.
City’s junior sides hosted Ballarat City, with the under-18s losing 3-1, after leading 1-0 at half time.
Jake Vanderkley scored twice in Ballarat’s 3-0 win in the under-14s, while the under-13 clash was tied at 1-1, with Ethan Furness scoring his third goal of the season for Bendigo City.
