The Hawks had 12 individual goal kickers as they scored a 20.15 (135) to 10.16 (76) win over Castlemaine at Canterbury Park.
With the club’s 2007 premiership team looking on, the Hawks set up their win by kicking nine goals to one with the breeze in the first term.
To Castlemaine’s credit it didn’t throw in the towel.
The young Magpies took the game right up to its highly-rated opponents after quarter time.
If they had have kicked straight the final margin would have looked more respectable.
The Pies kicked 9.16 in the final three quarters, just five points less than the Hawks’ total of 11.9.
Brodie Collins, Ben McPhee (four goals), Riley McIvor and Cam McGlashan led the way for the Borough, while Simon Seddon, Kal Huntly, Zac Hansford and Braidon Blake were best for the Magpies.
