POLICE are investigating after IGA Maldon was broken into overnight, with the offender making off with $6000 cash and $1500 worth of cigarettes.

Detective Senior Constable Steve Atkinson said there were signs of forced entry through wooden doors at the premises.
An alarm was activated at a nearby business at 2.30am, but police are unsure whether it is connected to the break-in at IGA.
Detective Senior Constable Atkinson urged anyone who noticed suspicious behaviour near Main Street or High Street any time between Friday evening and Saturday morning to contact police.
Police are also investigating a break-in and attempted break-in in Maryborough overnight.
A hairdresser on High Street was broken into and $30 in cash was stolen. The attempted break-in occurred at a cafe on High Street.
Detective Senior Constable Atkinson said it was unclear if the crimes in Maldon and Maryborough were related.
