After weeks of training, the teams have been refining their racing and pit crew routines.
Registrations are at capacity. And, though the race has yet to start, it would seem team Pipsqueak has already secured a title: the youngest entrants.
With a pit crew ranging from six to eight years of age, and riders aged nine to 11 years, team manager Ben Harnetty believes the crew’s got youth on their side.
“They’re very excited,” Mr Harnetty said.
After eight weeks of training, they’re keen to test their skills out on the roads.
“We’ll go alright,” Mr Harnetty said.
The runners and pit crew aren’t the only ones looking forward to Saturday’s competition.
Mr Harnetty’s love for the event blossomed 21 years ago, as a rider.
“I’ve pretty much never grown out of it,” he said.
He created the Pipsqueak vehicle, which will be among those racing around the Deborah Triangle circuit, in the heart of the Bendigo CBD, from 1pm to 10pm on Saturday.
