And their services have been required at least three times in the past four weeks, following a number of house fires.
Now, it’s the Red Cross that’s appealing for help. They’re seeking to add volunteers to their midst.
The Bendigo unit consists of 12 volunteers, while the Echuca-based Campaspe unit is down to six.
“We would like to see these teams increase by at least five volunteers,” Divisional Operations Officer Greg Ralton said.
Unit members have responded to fires, floods, cyclones in Queensland and the Bourke Street tragedy in Melbourne.
Ten years ago, they were deployed to assist people involved in the Kerang train tragedy.
Information sessions have been arranged for both the Bendigo and Campaspe units.
Bendigo sessions will be at the CFA Headquarters in Adam Street, Golden Square, from 10am on August 26, and 7pm on August 28.
Campaspe sessions are at the CFA in Pakenham Street, Echuca, from 11am on August 27, and 6pm on August 28.
