SOUTH Bendigo is counting the cost of its loss to Golden Square last weekend that soured a day in which the Bloods gave up their position in the BFNL top five.

The 38-point defeat was compounded by injuries to Isaiah Miller (kidney tear), Daniel Nalder (hamstring), Charlton Hindle (hamstring) and first-gamer Cameron Taggert (fractured ribs).
Miller played the game out with his slight kidney tear, before being taken to hospital after the match.
“It’s three months with no contact for Isaiah, so I guess the one positive is he will only miss a couple of games,” Bloods coach Brady Childs said on Wednesday.
“He went to hospital after the game and was monitored for a few hours and fortunately, didn’t requite surgery.”
The day could have been worse for the Bloods when co-captain Aaron Connaughton left the field in the dying minutes with a wrist concern that has since been cleared of any major damage.
With two rounds remaining the Bloods have slipped two points outside the top five ahead of another tough match this Saturday against Strathfieldsaye in the first game under lights at Tannery Lane from 5.30pm.
“We’ve still got an opportunity this year to make finals… we’re not out of it yet and it’s obviously a huge game this weekend that we’ll have a crack at,” said Childs, who himself is out with a season-ending knee injury.
