Sheridyn Watts’s 1995 Ford Courier dual-cab utility was taken during the evening on Monday, August 7, after she left it parked outside her Long Gully home.
A few days later she received some good news – police had located her beloved ute two blocks away from where it was stolen.
The ute, which the 21-year-old described as the crappiest car she had ever seen, meant everything to Ms Watts.
Before the four-wheel-drive was stolen, she was in the process of setting it up to do the Telly Track in Queensland.
“I’m very happy to have it back – I cried of excitement when I saw it,” Ms Watts said.
But, unfortunately, it came back with a few modifications – the tailgate, bull bar, back window and the bottom of doors were all covered in spray paint; it leaked oil and the exhaust had some issues.
The former mechanic hasn’t let that spoil the good news though, buying a “parts car” and planning to return it to its former state herself.
Two men – 29-year-old male from Long Gully and a 26-year-old male from Lockington – have been charged in relation to the theft and will face a Bendigo court next month.
