The $35 four-slice TART 1704 toaster was sold at the department store from May 18 this year.
The retailing giant has issued a product recall after learning that the appliance has a faulty component which may cause it to overheat.
Target Australia has urged any shopper who bought the toaster to stop using it and return it to the store for a refund.
The toaster is a white, four-slice model with a sticker on the bottom displaying the code number 60024374.
Fairfax Media has approached Target Australia for comment about how many of the toasters have been sold and whether they have been responsible for any injuries or damage to property.
