The team, to be coached by Kangaroo Flat’s Janelle Hobbs, was finalised on the weekend.
It contains nine BFNL players and one from Echuca.
Kangaroo Flat is the best represented with four players, including A-grade goal shooting star Ruby Barkmeyer, Bree Heiden, Georgia Lowther and Danielle O’Toole.
Gisborne has three players in the squad. They are last year’s joint 17-and-under league medallist Melinda Luke, Olivia Cautley and Holly Doricic, who was best-on-court in the Bulldogs 2016 premiership win.
Echuca Bridget Byrne is the sole non-BFNL player.
Five of the team represented the BFNL at inter-league level against Ballarat this season, including Maryborough’s Keely Hare and Sandhurst’s Sophie Shoebridge.
North Central has won a state 17-and-under title as recently as 2015, when coached by current AFL Central Victoria regional general manager Carol Cathcart.
The full squad is: Ruby Barkmyer (Kangaroo Flat); Bridget Byrne (Echuca); Olivia Cautley (Gisborne); Holly Doricic (Gisborne); Keely Hare (Maryborough) ; Bree Heiden (Kangaroo Flat); Georgia Lowther (Kangaroo Flat); Melinda Luke (Gisborne); Danielle O'Toole (Kangaroo Flat); Sophie Shoebridge (Sandhurst).
The 2017 State Titles will be held at Eagle Stadium in Werribee on October 7-8.
