That’s how intense Pakistan coach Matt Embling rated Friday night’s AFL International Cup match against India at Golden Square.
The two countries have one of the most bitter sporting rivalries in the world and it was no different for Aussie Rules in their AFL International Cup clash.
In front of an enthusiastic crowd Pakistan won its first game of the carnival, defeating India by nine points – 4.6 (30) to 3.3 (21).
“It was a fantastic night and the Golden Square club did a sensational job of hosting,” Embling said.
“There was a really good crowd and they made a lot of noise… drums, music, singing, it was a fantastic atmosphere to be part of.
“It was a low-scoring, tight game of footy that was a really willing contest.
“It’s a very intense rivalry and you could tell that before the game with how nervous some of the guys were.”
Daneyal Khan was Pakistan’s best player, while India named Amar Roshan Bara, who kicked one goal, its standout.
While it was a first victory for Pakistan, the defeat left the Indians winless.
