VicRoads has issued an alert for fallen trees on Bacchus Marsh-Gisborne Road near Hobbs Road, on the outskirts of Gisborne.
Trees are also down in Sunbury, Wallan and Ballan.
The Bureau of Meteorology yesterday issued a strong wind warning for many districts, including the north central, taking in areas south of Castlemaine and Daylesford.
In Bendigo, winds are not expected to get above 30 kilometres per hour today. The strongest winds are expected in the mid-afternoon.
Elsewhere, winds could reach peaks of 100 kilometres per hour.
VicRoads is warning drivers on their way to Melbourne to take extra care and to be alert of fallen branches and debris. Speed limits may also be lowered on freeways around Melbourne.
VicRoads advises motorists to allow for extra time when travelling to Melbourne.
