Ron Monro, Ralph Conboy, John Plim, Neville Massina and Rob Bennett – the five premiership coaches in Bulldogs’ history.
The “Fabulous Five” will be celebrated this Sunday at a function at the Hibernian Hotel from 12.30pm being run by the Friends of North Bendigo Group.
The five will all be in attendance where stories of the club’s premiership years in both the Golden City and Heathcote District leagues will be relived.
Monro coached the Bulldogs to their historic first senior flag in 1966.
Eight years later Conroy led the Bulldogs to the 1974 premiership.
Plim was at the helm for back-to-back flags in 1976 and 1977, with both premierships won against Northern United – just as the 1974 and 1966 triumphs had been.
After a 38-year drought, Massina and Bennett co-coached the Bulldogs’ 2015 flag in the Heathcote District league, before the club won again last year with just Bennett at the helm.
The top-of-the-ladder Bulldogs are again shaping up strongly under Bennett for a tilt next month at a flag hat-trick for the first time.
