Numerous tree stumps are visible along one side of Burnside Track, and vegetation appears to have been tossed across the opposite side of the track.
Parks Victoria Area Chief Ranger Karen Doyle said the vegetation seems to have been removed from a small section of the National Park near private property.
“A site inspection has taken place and Parks Victoria will be working with Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning to investigate any offences that have occurred,” Ms Doyle said.
Private property adjoins the Burnside Track in the Greater Bendigo National Park, located just under 30 kilometres north east of the city centre.
It is unclear how long the investigation by Parks Victoria may take.
