SOME of the Flack Advisory Bendigo Region athletics young stars will be racing at next week’s School Sport Australia cross country championships in Tasmania.

South Bendigo’s Yazmin Hayes, Bendigo University’s Wil McCaig, and Bendigo Harriers’ Matilda Moore have earned selection in the Victorian line-up to compete in Hobart.

A student at Rochester Secondary College, Hayes will race in the 14-15 years class.

The talented teenager was seventh in the state cross country finals at Bundoora.

Moore’s great season included fifth place in the 16-years race at the state titles.

The Girton Grammar student will compete in the 16-17 years division at the SSA championships in Hobart.

McCaig was runner-up in the 15-boys final at the SSV state titles and will race in the 14-15 years division at the nationals.

The Bendigo South East student has improved dramatically in cross country and track events in the past year.
