THE Dandenong Stingrays made more of their opportunity with a howling breeze at their backs to inflict another heavy loss on the Rural Bank Bendigo Pioneers in the TAC Cup on Saturday.

The Pioneers (3-12) fell to the bottom of the ladder following their 20.18 (138) to 7.7 (49) defeat to the Stingrays.
One of the key differences between the two sides in the 89-point result was the Stingrays’ ability to utilise the breeze at Shepley Oval.
Finals-bound Dandenong kicked 13.12 in its two quarters with the wind, while the Pioneers – who trailed by 51 points at the first break – could muster just 5.5.
“I can’t remember being involved in a game with a wind as strong as today that was going straight down the ground,” Pioneers coach Rick Coburn said.
“Dandenong played the conditions particularly well. Unfortunately, we didn’t and they thoroughly deserved their big win.”
The Pioneers have now played 63 players this season following another three debutantes on Saturday in 16-year-old’s James Schischka and Brodie Kemp, who both kicked goals, as well as Logan Prout.
