The local resident, who is preparing to show her collection of clay masks, embeds the creations with pieces of local earth, rock or plants to represent how humans are influenced by the environment around them.
“Whilst we have much in common we are each uniquely shaped and coloured by our experiences and environment,” she said.
Each was created in the likeness of a real person before being de-personalised; this way the objects represent all of humanity and not just one person, Ms Hosking explains.
An exhibition of her works will go on display in Exhibit B, formerly known as Fountain Court, from Tuesday.
The new arts space on corner of Mitchell Street and Pall Mall has already put itself on the map with shows from three women: Julie Andrew, Sharon Greenaway and Hosking.
Audiences will also get the chance to meet with Ms Hosking on Thursday, August 24, while an opening will be held from 4.30pm on Wednesday.
