VICTORIAN commercial outdoor dining areas will be smoke-free from next month.
The changes to the Tobacco Act 1987 come into effect on August 1 and extend to food fairs and food stalls, footpath dining areas, courtyards and beer gardens when food is being eaten or is available.
Restrictions will apply to outdoor drinking areas in proximity to outdoor dining areas.
Both the venue and the individual smoking risk fines for flouting the new laws.
