UPDATE 9.00PM Three men arrested following two police operations in Kangaroo Flat on Wednesday have been remanded to appear at the Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
The three men – aged 23, 19 and 18 respectively – faced a bail justice in an out-of-sessions hearing on Wednesday evening.
The fourth man, 20, is yet to be interviewed.
UPDATE 7.30PM Preliminary charges have been laid against three of the four men arrested in separate police operations in Kangaroo Flat on Wednesday.
The three men – aged 23, 19 and 18 respectively – will face a bail justice in an out-of-sessions hearing on Wednesday evening.
The other man, 20, will be formally interviewed on Thursday.
Police said investigations were ongoing and further charges were yet to be finalised.
UPDATE 1pm: The dragnet is closing – that is the message from police for alleged ringleader Aaron Burzacott after four people were arrested in Kangaroo Flat this morning.
Two of the four men were part of a group of dangerous men wanted by Victoria Police.
Burzacott remains on the run and Detective Sergeant Steve Rainey said police would continue the search.
“Aaron is still at large and wanted,” he said.
“It might be time that he contact his solicitor and maybe give our office a call and we’ll make an arrangement with him.”
The first of the arrests happened at the Kangaroo Flat McDonald’s drive-through after police spotted one of the wanted men in a vehicle of interest.
He and another man were arrested at the scene after officers dragged them from the car they were in.
“Prior to being overpowered and subdued, they’ve repeatedly tried to ram the vehicle behind them,” Sergeant Rainey said.
“The occupants of that vehicle behind them have suffered some shock but are otherwise uninjured.”
The two men are now assisting police with their inquires.
A short time later, police arrested the second wanted man and another man in his mid-20s at a house in Jasmine Rise, Kangaroo Flat.
EARLIER: Police swooped on four men in Kangaroo Flat this morning.
Two are part of a group of dangerous men wanted by Victoria Police.
Two males were arrested at McDonalds in Kangaroo Flat while two more men were arrested at a second location in the suburb.
The alleged ringleader of the group, Aaron Burzacott, remains on the run.
Detective Sergeant Steve Rainey said the net was closing in on Burzacott.
