The brigade is raising money to replace its outdated salvage vehicle and for new operational equipment.
Golden Square lieutenant Bryan Greenwood said the current vehicle was 24 years old and used in call outs across the CFA district 2 region.
The brigade is hopeful of securing a grant this year and, together with money raised over the past four years, plans to purchase a new vehicle.
The amount raised on Saturday is yet to be tallied, but Mr Greenwood said the brigade hoped to be back tin-rattling at least twice a year at the fountain.
“We’d just like to thank everyone for their generosity,” he said. “It was pretty overwhelming.”
Anyone wishing to donate towards the new vehicle can visit the station on Tuesday evenings or contact the brigade via its Facebook page, www.facebook.com/GoldenSquareFireBrigade
