The 20-year-old will begin rehearsals with the rest of the cast next week before they take to the Ulumbarra stage on October 19.
McMillan has previously starred as Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family and Roscoe Crabbe in recent comedy One Man, Two Guvnors.
“It a very big role. Elle is in pretty much every scene, so it’s non-stop,” McMillan said.
“There is a lot of similarities to the movie but the music and songs add a lot more to it.
“Having loved the movie, people who see the show will love the extra things in the musical.”
Legally Blonde began life as novel in 2001 before being adapted into a film the same year. The musical premiered in San Francisco in 2007.
It follows sorority girl Elle Woods who enrols in Harvard Law School in an effort to win back her ex-boyfriend.
She discovers her legal talents despite others dismissing her as a “bimbo blonde”.
BTC’s latest production features a cast of 35 with Lisa Fremder playing Vivienne Kensington, Mari Bonet-Cruz playing Paulette, Abe Watson playing Emmett Forrest, Conor Cunningham playing Professor Callihan, Jason McMurray playing Warner Huntington III.
Amy Vaux, Emma Black, Laura-Jane Leach, Laura Baker and Maddy McGennisken will also take supporting roles.
