Council approved the transfer for a nominal payment of $100 for the land and building.
The building is currently council owned, however has been managed by the Action Group for a number of years with no formal tenure.
It is an active community space where the Action Group operate a micro business and host many community activities.
A number of options for the future of the building have been discussed with the Action Group, with the selected option being to seek ownership.
Transfer of ownership is in line with council’s plan to identify and implement initiatives to increase long-term financial sustainability while providing beneficial outcomes for communities.
The transfer will remove the asset from council’s Asset Register and remove annual depreciation costs.
Council will now start the statutory processes to transfer the asset’s ownership across to the Action Group.
