Cole teamed up with fellow country music star Adam Harvey to record The Great Country Songbook Volume Two at the end of 2016 and released it in April this year.
The album is a follow up to Harvey and Troy Cassar-Daley’s original album – The Great Country Songbook – and focuses on famous country duets.
Cole said she had some obscure favourites she want to sing with Harvey.
“We both bought a list of songs to the first meeting and there were a lot of the same songs on our lists,” she said.
“Some were the Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers duets and those types of country music classics but then there were some more obscure favourites that let we each other have.
“One song I wanted to do was You’re The Reason Our Kids Are Ugly because it is so much fun to sing.”
Cole and Harvey’s songbook album peaked at number 6 on the ARIA charts.
Other duets on the album include songs recorded by Johnny Cash and June Carter, George Jones and Tammy Wynette, and Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn.
“It’s been awesome getting to do these songs but who knows who Adam get in for the third (songbook album),” Cole said.
With the success of the second country songbook album, Cole and Harvey have set out on tour to perform it.
They will perform at the Ulumbarra Theatre in Bendigo on July 29.
“Adam and I have been mates for nearly 20 years and touring off and on in that time. I think we have done nine tours together,” Cole said.
“Bendigo is such an awesome town, especially in winter. You warm feel every place you go because people are so nice and friendly. I am looking froward to coming back.
“We both love a bit of humour, so the show has a lot of fun stuff and great stories.
“We will perform our own duets as well as our own songs but we perform each others song as well which is a bit of a challenge.”
Cole and Harvey will be on the road right up until October but Cole said she is eager to get back in the recording studio.
“There are some songs churning around in the depths of my creative side,” she said.
“I am planning on spending the last couple months (of the year) away, locked up and writing before getting in the studio next year and developing that for a new album.”
