A faster course may be on the cards but organisers remained tight lipped about the route as they launched the 2017 Bendigo Bank Fun Run.
Even event organiser Tara Everit was not entirely sure what course director Hunter Gill had in mind when the race kicked off in November.
Mr Gill had flagged “interesting and substantial” changes in the fun run’s 11th year.
“I’m keeping them under wraps until about three weeks out to keep people guessing,” he said.
Ms Everit said the event would include a 5km walk as well as a 5km, 10km, 15km and a half marathon run.
She hoped $130,000 would be raised for the New Bendigo Hospital Appeal.
Already $1.9 million had been raised for the appeal and fun run money would see the appeal half way towards its total goal, according to appeal chair Keith Sutherland.
Funds would go towards three major pieces of equipment, including a second catheterisation laboratory, robotic pharmacy systems and a new ophthalmic microscope.
