In what is said to be the biggest event of its kind in the world, sheep breeders will vie for first place across 50 categories, with adjudicators judging everything from best black fleece to top merino pair.
Food and fibre fanatics will also get their chance to celebrate products harvested from sheep. Fashion parades will showcase the best in winter apparel, while the Festival of Lamb will carve up some succulent cuts for hungry passers-by.
But its not all just fun and games. Those working in the sheep industry will use the three-day affair to hear from experts about advances in shearing, vaccinations against footrot and the use of smart technology to manage their flocks.
Last year’s event saw 3000 sheep shipped to Bendigo and more than 30,000 people descend on the showgrounds with hopes of seeing some prized fleece.
