STRATHDALE has stamped itself as the region's premier women's hockey side with a win in last weekend's Regional Hockey League grand final.
The league is a combined Hockey Central Vic and Goulburn Valley Hockey Association competition for A-grade teams.
Strathdale defeated Shepparton Strikers 4-1 in the final, after scores were tied 1-all at half time.,
Evana Miles scored twice for the Tigers, who also benefited from goals by Jessie Nixon and Sally Anderson.
Strathdale coach Michael Lawlor paid credit to his players for bouncing back from an early 1-0 deficit to claim the championship.
"We lost only game through the season, but that was to Strikers 4-1 the last time we played them," he said.
"That was about six weeks ago, so it was an eight-goal turnaround in the final, which was really nice.
"It was a real good team effort."
Regular Victoria Country representative Brioni Lahn was best on field for the Tigers, narrowly ahead of goal scorer Nixon and Helen Coughlan.
The Tigers will now re-set their focus on earning championship honours in the HCV A-grade competition.
"We won the super-league last year, so that was back-to-back, but the double of that and a HCV premiership would be very nice," Lawlor said.
"We only had seven in the weekend's side from last year's grand final team. We've rebuilt with a lot of the juniors which has been nice."
The Regional Hockey League includes teams from Bendigo, Echuca and Shepparton.
