The arts culture on display in Bendigo drew Pamela Reid here.
Melbourne artist Reid said Bendigo is one of her favourite regional cities and was excited to unveil her exhibition in The Capital theatre foyer last weekend.
“I have two favourite regional cities, one is Aireys Inlet and I showed there last year and the other is Bendigo,” she said.
“My professional career has been in artist management within the music and entertainment industries, including organising national touring, so I love that theatre crowds get to see my work.”
The exhibition – Pen to Paper – is a series of artworks created by Reid over three years and is inspired by classical literature authors.
“It is more about my response to writing. With life drawing where I aim to capture the essence of a character, responding to the gesture, form and tones,” she said.
“I have had a few exhibitions in the past that have also been influenced by authors.”
Reid said she has always drawn and sketched but only started pursuing art properly about 15 years ago.
“I was one of those people that always loved it but put it on hold for a career and parenting,” she said.
Pen to Paper is on display in The Capital Theatre’s foyer until August 3.
