Dow (Swan Hill) and Brander (Wentworth) warned selection after standout national under-18 carnivals with Vic Country and the Allies respectively.
Midfielder Dow averaged 19 disposals, 12.2 contested possessions and 5.2 clearances for Vic Country.
Brander impressed as a key forward and key defender at the championships, including a three-goal haul in the Allies’ shock win over Vic Metro.
“It’s a great achievement by both boys,’’ Pioneers coach Rick Coburn said.
“They’ve worked very hard on their games and this selection is a reward for their effort. Everyone at the Pioneers is very proud of them.”
Dow and Brander both attend Geelong Grammar and get minimal exposure to the TAC Cup program.
Meanwhile, the Pioneers head to Preston on Sunday to play the Northern Knights.
Sunday’s game marks the return of Cooper Jones for his first match of 2017.
