A MOTHER charged with murder for the alleged drowning of her five-year-old son in the Murray River at Moama has been denied bail.
The woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, applied for bail in the Deniliquin Local Court earlier this week.
She was remanded in custody to next appear in court in September.
The woman was also charged with attempted murder for allegedly trying to drown her other son during the same incident, which occurred near Perricoota Road on March 2.
A court hearing on March 3 heard the woman told her eldest son to get in the river where she held his head under the water before he escaped and was then attacked by a pit bull dog that happened to be in the area.
The woman then allegedly turned to her younger son. His body was later found in the river.
