Victory Christian College student Maggie Bowles was inspired to go through with the World’s Greatest Shave after watching family members fight leukemia.
The year 12 student endured her close shave yesterday with plenty of schoolmates watching in support.
The school’s student representative council help raise funds for the cause by holding a casual dress day that saw people donate a gold coin to dress comfortably and coem to school with a a “crazy hair-do”.
World’s Greatest Shave is one of Australia’s biggest fundraisers and raises money for the Leukemia Foundation. So far more than $16 million has been raised in 2017.
As well as shaving heads, participants have also shave beards or chests.
Money raised is used to fund life-saving research and provide free, emotional and practical support like accommodation for regional families who need to move to the city for treatment.
